Bruce is the non-executive chair of Sterequip Pty Ltd and Elan Energy Management Pty Ltd, both being family operated businesses. He is also non-executive director in CleanSubSea Ltd and Thylation Pty Ltd, all companies being dedicated to innovation in conservation and environmental management.

Prior to NPWS, Atticus was the inaugural Chief Executive of the non-profit Australian Wildlife Conservancy (AWC), where he oversaw its growth to become the largest private owner of land for conservation in the world. AWC pioneered a new non-profit business model for conservation, protecting some of the largest remaining populations of many of Australia’s most threatened species.

Before AWC, Atticus worked as an advisor to Australia’s longest serving Federal Environment Minister, the Hon Robert Hill AC. 

Atticus began his working life as a constitutional lawyer with the Federal Attorney-General’s Department and as a corporate lawyer with Australia’s then largest commercial law firm.

Atticus grew up in the bush (central west NSW) and has been passionate about wildlife conservation since a young age. He has explored places like the Congo, Madagascar, the Amazon, Bhutan in search of rare birds and other endangered species.  

In 2020, Atticus was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for significant service to the conservation of endangered wildlife. 

In 2018, Atticus received the Lifetime of Conservation Award, the highest honour awarded by the Australian Geographic Society.

In 2018, Atticus received an honorary doctorate from the University of Canberra.

In 2016, Atticus was named by Australian Geographic as one of 30 people who have had the greatest influence on the conservation of Australia’s wildlife over the last 30 years.

In 2014, he was listed as one of four WA finalists in the 2014 Australian of the Year awards.

Atticus has a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of New South Wales.

Dennis served as Secretary of the Department of Defence, Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Australian Ambassador to the United States and Director-General of ASIO. He was also chief of staff to the then Prime Minister, the Hon Bob Hawke, from 1990-1991.

As a diplomat and official in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Dennis served in some of the planet’s biodiversity hotspots including in Africa and the Asia-Pacific. 

Dennis is a Director of Australian Wildlife Conservancy and a patron of the RSPCA in the ACT. He is also the Chairman of the Canberra Raiders and serves on several commercial boards.  

Dennis offers a unique mix of experience in international affairs, engagement with governments and international agencies, the administration of complex organisations and conservation. 

Dennis was made an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in 2003 and was advanced to a Companion of the Order of Australia (AC) in 2019.

He is a member of the US Studies Centre Board of Directors, and holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Sydney.

A selection of his film and television credits include roles in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, 300, Van Helsing, The Boys, Getting Square, Top of the Lake, Pieces of Her and Seachange.

In theatre, David has appeared in productions with a range of theatre companies including the Melbourne Theatre Company, the Sydney Theatre Company, the Belvoir St Theatre, and at the Comedy Theatre, Melbourne.   

David is a multi-AFI award winning actor.  He made his directorial debut in 2017 with the film Ellipsis

David was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to the performing arts as an actor and a producer. 

The youngest of seven children, David revealed his performance skills at a young age, putting on puppet shows for his family and entertaining classmates with impressions of, among others, iconic conservationist Harry Butler.  

David has a long history of contributing to conservation, being part of the Save the Ningaloo Reef campaign and serving as an advocate and ambassador for the conservation of our native forests and wildlife through support for organisations such as Australian Wildlife Conservancy.  

David has also supported a number of other charities including The Wayside Chapel, the Fred Hollows Foundation and Kids Help Line. 

David has a Bachelor of Performing Arts from the University of Western Sydney and an Honorary Doctorate from the Australian Catholic University.
